For the past seven days, the Shaykh Saleh al-Ja’fari mosque in Cairo has witnessed the grand mawlid celebration of sayyidi Shaykh Saleh al-Ja’fari, radi Allahu anh, attended by thousands of people from all the zawiyas in Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Bahrain, Malaysia, and other places.
Last night was the last night, the final night, where the celebration went on until Fajr. It was aired live online for those who couldn’t be there in person. But now that it’s over, here is a clip from last night’s events, to give you a sample of what it’s like at this beautiful mawlid.

It is always nasheeds followed by duroos, then nasheeds then duroos, and so on, all night long. There was also (and there is every year) a beautiful Qur’an recitation by the son of shaykh Abdel Basit Abd al-Samad, who attends it every year, and there are talks and lessons by some of the greatest scholars of Egypt.
In this clip, at the beginning of the tenth minute, there is a talk by as-sayyid Idris, one of the descendants of shaykh Ahmad ibn Idris, radi Allahu anh.
And the first person that appears in this clip is sidi Muhammad Saleh bin shaykh Abd al-Ghani bin shaykh Saleh al-Ja’fari. He will then sit down next to shaykh Abd al-Ghani, may Allah preserve him and benefit us from him.
The sound is not very clear, but at least it shows you what it’s like.
