I’ve corrected multiple people who do not realize that Al Mahdi and Al Massiach are seperate figures entirely. I think a lot of Christians and Jews who have a small amount of knowledge about Islam make that mistake.

Sam- I've read on some website, something about freemasonry watch, the claim that osama was a sufi or something. I seriously doubt this. If the claims of Kola Boof are true, that he raped her and made her his mistress, then he doesn't sound very religious (and most extremists aren't). And if he did have extensive knowledge of the Qur'an he would know that adultery is the only sin besides having more than one God that will not be pardoned.

BUT he did live in Afghanistan which, before the Taliban took control of it, was a compeltely Sufi country. this might have influenced him somehow but I doubt it. Still, i dont think Osama would care about any of the stuff mentioned on that blog.

The Being Holy site is wrong on many other accounts. The "Guardian" Ahmedinajad is waiting for is the Mahdi, who for Shia's is a person who was already born hundreds of years ago and dissapeared, and they're waiting for his return. His name is Muhammad b. Hasan b. Ali, and was born in 868. This is different from the Sunni idea of the Mahdi, who is an unknown figure. and neither in sunni nor shia ideology is the mahdi the "messiah" because Jesus is the Messiah. there's lots of other mistakes on that blog.

This is a really fascinating article. It not only contradicts many pre-conceptions I had, but even some of what I thought was specific knowledge about the Wahabi/Salafi continuum. While I am not fan of Ibn Wahab, or Wahabism, it makes it clear that it is not as black and white an issue as it often seems. Props yet again.

Would you say that Osama Bin Laden believes in some sort of Sufism or other mystical beliefs?
I was reading in Being oly that he planned 9/11 according to mysticism. There they also explain what he did wrong.
