Ibn 'Abbas came and took hold of the stirrup. Zayd said, 'Let go, nephew of the Messenger of Allah!' He said, 'This is the way we act with men of knowledge.' Then Zayd kissed the hand of Ibn 'Abbas. I remember having read this instance in a hadith somewhere. I think a judge/companion was on a horse and I think Zaid or someone from the Ahl-e-Bayt held the stirrup for the companion. Upon which the companion insisted he not do that and Zaid replied that we have been instructed to respect the scholars. In turn the companion kissed his hands and said we have been instructed to love the ahl-e-bayt. Heard of it before?
