Two Muslim brothers who were studying overseas were sharing a room which had bunk beds. So one of the brothers requested to sleep at the bottom bed, and the other was more than happy to grant his request because people usually prefer the upper beds.
One day they were both out at night, and the one whose bed is on top came home very late, and he was so tired and sleepy that he couldn’t bother go up to his bed, so he slept on his roommate’s bed. The roommate had still not come home yet.
When he woke up, he found his roommate sleeping on the floor. He said to him: I took your bed, why didn’t you climb up to sleep in mine?
So he answered: You are a hafiz, you carry the Qur’an in your breast. I didn’t want to sleep above it.

MashAllah, all boils down to adab/courtesy. nuruddinzangi – may be you can help me here finding this hadith. I remember having read this instance in a hadith somewhere. I think a judge/companion was on a horse and I think Zaid or someone from the Ahl-e-Bayt held the stirrup for the companion. Upon which the companion insisted he not do that and Zaid replied that we have been instructed to respect the scholars. In turn the companion kissed his hands and said we have been instructed to love the ahl-e-bayt.
Heard of it before?

Ash-Shab’i said: “Zayd ibn Thabit prayed in his mother’s funeral prayer and then brought his mule near so he could mount it. Ibn ‘Abbas came and took hold of the stirrup. Zayd said, ‘Let go, nephew of the Messenger of Allah!’ He said, ‘This is the way we act with men of knowledge.’ Then Zayd kissed the hand of Ibn ‘Abbas. He said, ‘This is the way I was commanded to act with the people of the House of the Prophet.’”

Shaykh Saleh in his book says that it was mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim in his commentary of al-Suhrawardi’s Awaarif al-Ma’aarif,
and Ibn Abbas said: “this is what we were commanded to do with your ulama” (the Prophet, salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: The most knowledgeable of you in inheritance mattes is Zaid).
then zaid says: “this is what we were commanded to do with Ahl Bayt Nabiyyinna”
(salla Allahu alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam).
